Trip to Batawa took about 3 hours. Located between Ottawa and Toronto this town was founded by Thomas J. Bata during the 1930s, it is also a site of old Bata shoe factory which began operation in 1940. (Wikipedia) This small town is going through a transformation process with the help of Carleton students and faculties as well as Mrs. Bata herself. Me being the guy with most loose or flexible schedule I got to go with folks from Carleton DUC to photograph and videograph whatever it is that they are doing there.

Here is Globe and Mail article on Batawa (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-investor/the-gutsy-plan-to-bring-batawa-back-to-life/article1194178/)

It was hectic running around trying to get photos and video plus carrying loads of equipment around with me all the time. Including a tripod with videohead on it..

Here are the photos. (I don’t think I’ll be uploading the video but once Carleton has it up I’ll post up a link to that)

Be sure to check out photos by Fred Lum at Globe and Mail website.
